The Fraun­ho­fer Insti­tute for Open Com­mu­ni­ca­tion Sys­tems (FOKUS) is loca­ted in Ber­lin-Char­lot­ten­burg and offers R&D ser­vices for the deve­lop­ment of seam­less, per­so­na­li­sable com­mu­ni­ca­tion sys­tems. With our cli­ents, we work through all sta­ges of the inno­va­tion pro­cess - from the initial idea, through rese­arch and deve­lop­ment in pro­jects, to pro­to­type deve­lop­ment, imple­men­ta­tion, and pilot ope­ra­tion.

For our pro­jects in the areas decen­tra­li­zed data manage­ment, data spaces, and Open Data, we are loo­king for team-ori­en­ted stu­dents (m/w/d) who want to pro­gress the digi­ta­li­za­tion and moder­ni­za­tion of governments, public admi­nis­tra­ti­ons, and rela­ted indus­tries. Stu­dent Soft­ware Deve­lo­per Data Spaces (m/w/d)

Aufgabenbeschreibung:

We are an inter­di­sci­pli­nary team, hel­ping governments and public admi­nis­tra­ti­ons to solve some of their big­gest chal­len­ges in IT and data. You can expect to work on pro­jects that are prac­ti­cally rele­vant for our cli­ents, address often publicly deba­ted policy issues, and add value to society at large. As a team, we offer you a pro­fes­sio­nal and col­la­bo­ra­tive rese­arch envi­ron­ment where you can bring in your own rese­arch ideas and set your own prio­ri­ties.

Your respon­si­bi­li­ties will be:

  • Deve­lop­ment of inter­ac­tive and scala­ble web app­li­ca­ti­ons and ser­vices in the con­text of our natio­nal and inter­na­tio­nal rese­arch and indus­try pro­jects.
  • Use of Open Source solu­ti­ons and fami­lia­ri­za­tion with new tech­no­lo­gies.
  • App­li­ca­tion of tech­ni­cal requi­re­ments from the domains Open Data, data spaces and decen­tra­li­zed data manage­ment.
  • Intro­duc­tion of ideas for the tech­ni­cal road­map and fur­ther deve­lop­ments.

Erwartete Qualifikationen:

We are loo­king for stu­dents from the fields of com­pu­ter sci­ence, busi­ness infor­ma­tics or com­pa­ra­ble fields of study who enjoy lear­ning new tech­no­lo­gies with the fol­lo­wing expe­ri­en­ces:

  • Pro­gramming skills in Java
  • Know­ledge about the deve­lop­ment of web app­li­ca­ti­ons and web ser­vices
  • Very good know­ledge of Eng­lish and good know­ledge of Ger­man

Know­ledge in some of the fol­lo­wing areas is advan­ta­ge­ous, but not man­datory:

  • Lin­ked Data and the Seman­tic Web
  • Cloud and con­tai­ner tech­no­lo­gies (e.g. Docker, OpenS­hift)
  • Graph data­ba­ses and graph query lan­guages (e.g. Neo4J)
  • App­li­ca­tion of build tools (e.g. Maven, Gradle)

Hinweise zur Bewerbung:

Remu­ne­ra­tion accord­ing to the gene­ral works agree­ment for employ­ing assi­stant staff.
A time limit of 6 mon­ths is plan­ned for the time being. We are inte­rested in a long-term coope­ra­tion.
The mon­thly working time is 60-80 hours.
