Der For­schungs­be­reich für Adap­tive Ratio­na­li­tät (ARC) ver­eint eine inter­dis­zi­pli­näre, inter­na­tio­nale For­scher­gruppe, die sich aus Wis­sen­schaft­le­rin­nen und Wis­sen­schaft­lern der Psy­cho­lo­gie, Neu­ro­wis­sen­schaf­ten, Öko­no­mie, Phi­lo­so­phie, Bio­lo­gie und Mathe­ma­tik zusam­men­setzt. Wir unter­su­chen, wie Men­schen und andere Lebe­we­sen – aus­ge­stat­tet mit begrenz­ten kogni­ti­ven Res­sour­cen – in der Welt und im Gedächt­nis nach Infor­ma­tio­nen suchen und wie sie Ent­schei­dun­gen tref­fen, wenn wenig Zeit für sorg­fäl­ti­ges Nach­den­ken bleibt.

Stu­dent Rese­arch Assi­stant

Working field:

The Cen­ter for Adap­tive Ratio­na­lity direc­ted by Ralph Hertwig at the Max Planck Insti­tute for Human Deve­lop­ment (Ber­lin) is see­king app­li­cants for a posi­tion as Stu­dent Rese­arch Assi­stant to assist the ongo­ing rese­arch in all pha­ses of the sci­en­ti­fic pro­cess. Rese­arch assi­stants are usually employed on a basis of 41-80h a month. The posi­tion lasts for 6 mon­ths mini­mum and will be pro­lon­ged given mutual inte­rest. The anti­ci­pa­ted start date is June 1st, 2023. The remu­ne­ra­tion wit­hout a Bache­lor's degree is 12,00€/h- in the Mas­ter's degree 13,95€/h. App­li­ca­tion dead­line is April 12th, 2023.

  • Enrol­led in a Bache­lor’s or Mas­ter’s pro­gram at a Ger­man uni­ver­sity (Psy­cho­logy, Edu­ca­tio­nal Sci­en­ces, Cogni­tive sci­ence, or rela­ted field).
  • Very good level of Ger­man and Eng­lish
  • Orga­ni­za­tio­nal talent, high degree of respon­si­bi­lity and abi­lity to work inde­pendently
  • High inte­rest in par­ti­ci­pa­ting in rese­arch on deve­lop­men­tal psy­cho­logy

Desi­red qua­li­fi­ca­ti­ons (not all are necessary to apply)
  • Expe­ri­ence in working with (young) child­ren
  • Fami­liar with the sta­tis­ti­cal soft­ware R (or wil­ling­ness to learn it)

What we offer:

The Cen­ter for Adap­tive Ratio­na­lity is inves­ti­ga­ting various aspects of judgment and decision-making. We offer you the chance to par­ti­ci­pate in an inter­na­tio­nal and inter­di­sci­pli­nary rese­arch team. The suc­cess­ful can­di­date will be invol­ved in a variety of rese­arch pro­jects rela­ted to the deve­lop­ment of decision-making stra­te­gies in child­hood. The main task will be to sup­port data collec­tion. Depen­ding on the pro­gress of the pro­jects other tasks are pos­si­ble, e.g. lite­ra­ture rese­arch or sup­port in qua­li­ta­tive and quan­ti­ta­tive data pre­pa­ra­tion and quan­ti­ta­tive data pre­pa­ra­tion and ana­ly­sis.
