Brandenburgische Technische Universität Cottbus-Senftenberg - Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Energy Systems, the Chair of Polymer-based Lightweight Design
Working field:
The Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus–Senftenberg (BTU) and the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM) will establish the BTU-BAM Graduate School »Trustworthy Hydrogen« with seven doctoral positions starting in October 2022. The Graduate School aims to train the next generation of interdisciplinary young hydrogen scientists. The graduates will be well-equipped to play a leading role in establishing the hydrogen economy.
The academic staff member is to conduct research on the topic of »Influence of manufacturing-induced imperfections on the operational safety of composite H2 pressure vessels« (PhD Topic 6) as part of a doctorate in the field of polymer-based lightweight construction. The doctoral candidate will benefit from joint supervision (tandem) by advisers from BTU and BAM.
The core of the Graduate School is a unique hydrogen-focused qualification programme, which provides all PhD students with a holistic understanding of the hydrogen value chain and the regulatory framework conditions. Through a wide range of soft-skill courses, the PhD students will also be optimally prepared for their future professional careers. In addition, the Graduate School is embedded into the extensive international network of BAM and BTU, which enables PhD students to undertake research stays in industry, science and the public sector.
