Working field:

The Process Dynamics and Operations Group is looking for a new employee for an exciting DFG project on the investigation of fluid distribution on structured surfaces from additive manufacturing. In a joint cooperation with Universität Ulm, 2-phase simulations with the diffuse interface method according to Cahn-Hilliard are carried out and evaluated on the TUB side. The following aspects are major part of the planned work packages:

  • Setting up and carrying out simulations in Fenics
  • Grid generation based on optical characterization measurements
  • Further development of the in-house code for Cahn-Hilliard-Navier-Stokes in Fenics

Requirements:

The department is based in chemical engineering, but candidates from other engineering disciplines or backgrounds are always welcome. Regarding the described position, we are interested in colleagues with the following qualifications and interests:

Required:

  • A successfully completed scientific university degree (Master, Diploma or equivalent) in a suitable field (process engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, computational engineering science, or similar) is required
  • Our team is very international, good German and/or English language skills are required; willingness to learn the respective missing language skills is expected
  • Very good knowledge of process engineering and fluid dynamics, in particular fluid mechanics and mass transfer, is required

Desired:

  • Ideally, you have already dealt with film flows and transport phenoma
  • Experience in simulative work is desirable, especially with regard to the methods Fenics and CHNS
  • Independent, well-organized working style is desirable
