Research Associate / PhD Student / Postdoc (m/f/x)

At the Faculty of Mathematics, the Institute of Mathematical Stochastics offers a position as

Research Associate / PhD Student / Postdoc (m/f/x)
(subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)

starting at the earliest possible date. The position is limited to three years and comprises 75 % of the full-time weekly hours. The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG). The position aims at obtaining further academic qualification (usually PhD / habilitation thesis).

Working field:

  • scientific research in the field of stochastic analysis and its applications in financial mathematics or in the theory of machine learning
  • assistance of the institute in teaching courses for mathematics students and for other degree programs
  • support of the institute in tasks of academic self-administration

Requirements:

  • university degree (e. g. Master, Diploma, if applicable with Doctorate) in mathematics or a related field
  • in-depth knowledge of stochastic processes, stochastic analysis, and their applications
  • experience in implementing stochastic models
  • teaching experience (e. g. as a teaching assistant)
  • very good knowledge of the English language
  • good German language skills or willingness to learn German
