The TU Dres­den is one of ele­ven Ger­man uni­ver­si­ties that were iden­ti­fied as an “excel­lence uni­ver­sity”. TUD has about 36.500 stu­dents and almost 5319 employees, 507 pro­fes­sors among them, and, thus, is the lar­gest uni­ver­sity in Sax­ony, today.

Having been com­mit­ted to sci­en­ces and the engi­nee­ring before the reuni­fi­ca­tion of Ger­many, TU Dres­den now is a multi-disci­pline uni­ver­sity, also offe­ring huma­nities and social sci­en­ces as well as medi­cine.

start­ing as soon as pos­sible. The pos­i­tion is ini­tially lim­ited for 18 months with the option of exten­sion until Decem­ber 2025, sub­ject to a pos­it­ive eval­u­ation. The period of employ­ment is gov­erned by the Fixed Term Research Con­tracts Act (Wis­senschaft­szeitver­trags­ge­setz – Wis­sZeitVG). The pos­i­tion offers the chance to obtain fur­ther aca­demic qual­i­fic­a­tion. Bal­an­cing fam­ily and career is an import­ant issue. The pos­i­tion is gen­er­ally suit­able for can­did­ates seek­ing part-time employ­ment. Please indic­ate your request in your applic­a­tion. The research topic is Phys­ics-informed Human Digital Twins.

Working field:

  • curi­os­ity-driven basic research of fun­da­mental prob­lems in the fields of human body pose estim­a­tion and track­ing;
  • design and ana­lysis of algorithms for solv­ing these prob­lems exactly or approx­im­ately;
  • imple­ment­a­tion, empir­ical ana­lysis and com­par­ison of these algorithms with respect to real data;
  • pub­lic­a­tion of find­ings in inter­na­tion­ally lead­ing con­fer­ences and journ­als (no teach­ing oblig­a­tion)

Requirements:

Uni­versity degree (Dip­loma/Mas­ter) in com­puter sci­ence, math­em­at­ics or related dis­cip­lines; curi­os­ity and strong interest in rig­or­ous math­em­at­ical meth­ods; pro­fi­ciency in Eng­lish and very good sci­entific writ­ing skills; very good pro­gram­ming skills in C/C++, proven by code examples.
